Upcoming new BMW models for 2020-21

BMW is looking to expand its car lineup in 2020 and 2021.

According to the sources and some reports, BMW is all set to launch several novelties and electric models in the USA and Europe, including BMW iX3, the 4 Series Coupe (G22), the 5 Series LCI/6 Series LCI and the M3/M4 duo (G80/G82).

The upcoming lineup of BMW is said to be more colorful, more vibrant than the existing batch. Given that the German automaker features vast and versatile lineup, there will be something for everyone. However, the German automaker hasn’t got expected success in the USA during the past few years despite its ever-widening portfolio.

BMW has experienced a dip in its sales in U.S. markets during 2017 and 2018. In order to compete with the luxury car giants like Mercedes-Benz, the German car company has to lure the customers with new models in 2020 and upcoming years.

No wonder why the launching of the new cars is seen as a strategic move by BMW to make big.

Here we have rounded up some BMW cars to be launched in 2020 and 2021.

BMW M3 Edition for 2021:

The iconic BMW M3 is one of the bestselling editions by BMW. The seventh-generation G20 3 Series has debuted in MY 2019 and now the time has come for the most powerful of its models to leave its impact on the automotive world as well.

However, the BMW 3 Series and M3 haven’t met the expectations set by their predecessors in the last decade or so, but the all-new M3 is looking to restore the faith.

The all-new 2021 code-named G80 is equipped with the conventional 3 Series model’s design, aggressive splitter and diffuser, unique wheels and spoiler and larger air intakes for enhanced cooling. As an added bonus, the new model has wheel arches and a bulging hood. Coming to the interiors, M3 creates a unique feel with the special shift lever, accents, seats, steering wheels, and materials.

The 2021 BMW M3 is said to be available in the dealerships during the second half of 2020 as a 2021 model.

2021 4 Series:

Launched in 2014, the 4 series includes the lineup of compact luxury coupes and hard-top convertibles.

The next-gen 4 Series features a striking design. They will come up with a huge hallmark “kidney grille” which has already been previewed in the BMW Concept 4 car, although not in that dramatic manner. The M Car will be equipped with key details such as unique aero elements including a spoiler, diffuser, and a splitter.

The 2021 M4 will offer the S58 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six mill capable of delivering either 473 hp or 503 hp depending on a chosen package.

The new BMW 4 Series is supposed to reach dealership in the second half of 2020.

2021 iNEXT:

The iNEXT is one of the much-awaited all-electric BMW vehicles, but unlike the above-mentioned i4, it’s an all-electric SUV. It was first unveiled at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show.

BMW’s official statement about this car says it all—

“With the BMW Vision iNEXT, we seek to make a bold and positive statement for the future and provide a human response to the question “How will the BMW Group design a car that doesn’t have to be driven any more – but can be?”

The BMW Vision iNEXt is an electric, fully connected car that offers highly autonomous driving.

Equipped with classy interiors and new features, the BMW iNEXT SUV is said to use a large 120-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and dual electric motors that provide an electronic all-wheel-drive system and a huge power for a vehicle of its size.

The iNEXT model is expected to hit the markets in 2021.

2021 X5:

Counted among top-selling BMW models, X5 has been equipped with more features so that it can stay competitive. Despite its low sales in 2018, it has been a key model for BMW in mid-size luxury SUV.

However, the design is said to remain unchanged. The current design symbolizes contemporary BMW design. The model is said to be launched with a new set of wheels or another exterior color option or two.

Coming to the interiors, the current X5 comes with more space, technology features, and other upgrades.

X5 model is available with four engines. The base sDrive40i or xDrive40i X5 gets power from a 335-horsepower 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine. The more effective XDrive501 sports a 4.4L twin-turbo V8 with 456 horsepower, while the X5 M gets power from the same engine.

However, the new series combines the smaller engine with an 82-kW electric motor for a combined 394 horses. Above all, it delivers up to 50 miles of all-electric range which is more than enough for a car in its class.
